Regular brushing and good oral health may reduce an individual’s risk for dementia later in life, suggests a study from the University of California, where researchers found brushing less than once a day increased the risk for dementia in elderly participants by 65 percent.

“Not only does the state of your mind predict what kind of oral health habits you practice, it may be that your oral health habits influence whether or not you get dementia,” said to Reuters Annlia Paganini-Hill, who led the study at the University of California
